With the hosts hoping to even the series after losing the first game in Hyderabad, Gill’s century in the second innings helped India set a goal of 399 runs for England.

After going through a poor stretch when his place in the Test squad was questioned, Gill finished with 104 off 147.

Due to injury, batter KL Rahul and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja are not participate in the current match, leaving India severely shorthanded.

In the first Test, Rahul reported experiencing soreness in his right quadriceps, while Jadeja injured his hamstring while attempting a fast single.

With two batsmen still undefeated, Zak Crawley and nightwatchman Rehan Ahmed, England has resumed its pursuit after concluding Day 3 at 67/1.

After the play of the day, Gill said that the morning session would be critical in determining which side will win the match.

Right now, it’s around 70-30, with the morning session being quite important. We’ve seen some movement from the fast bowlers, so perhaps we can succeed if we place the ball where it belongs, Gill said.

The 24-year-old said that batting on the pitch is difficult.

“As we witnessed today, it will have a varying bounce as the game progresses. Even if it isn’t spinning as much as the other pitches, it is still making an effort. “This is a difficult place to score runs,” Gill said.
