“We’ve Learned From Last Season,” Mikel Arteta says after Arsenal defeats Liverpool 3-1

According to Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s 3-1 victory against Premier League leaders Liverpool shown that they had moved over their championship collapse from the previous season.

On Sunday, Arteta’s second-place team at the Emirates Stadium put on a strong show that brought them within two points of Liverpool.

Bukayo Saka’s early goal gave the Gunners the lead, and they later overcame Gabriel Magalhaes’ own goal just before halftime.

After Alisson Becker, the goalkeeper for Liverpool, failed to clear the ball on the outside of the box, Gabriel Martinelli gave Arsenal the lead again.

Although Virgil van Dijk, a defender for Liverpool, took the responsibility for not clearing the ball himself, Alisson made a critical mistake by letting Leandro Trossard’s strike get between his legs in stoppage time as Arsenal won the game.

Arteta was well aware of the importance of Arsenal’s first victory against Liverpool this season, having celebrated Trossard’s goal with a joyous run down the touchline.

Arsenal is eager to win the Premier League for the first time since 2004 after squandering an eight-point lead in the championship game the previous season, enabling Manchester City to take the lead.

And Arteta is hoping that the poised manner in which they bounced back after giving up the equalizer against Liverpool shown that they now had the qualities necessary for future winners.

“We are present, without a doubt. We want to stay there,” he said.

“If we hadn’t been so steady this season, we wouldn’t be where we are now. We go from game to game. We are aware of it from the previous season. Let’s attempt to bring it about.

Arsenal was determined to give Jurgen Klopp’s club a point after squandering a 1-1 draw at Liverpool in December and wasting many opportunities in an FA Cup third round loss in January.

“The game was outstanding. A fantastic performance by both our workers and the players. I’ve seen better atmospheres all season long than that one. We asked for it, Arteta said.

“They pour all they have into each and every ball. I am really pleased because I am aware of how difficult it is to defeat this team, how much suffering and thought must go into doing what we accomplished on the ball.

“Extremely disorderly”

Arteta remarked that when the pressure increased in the second half, Arsenal’s dedication to an offensive, high-pressing style had left Liverpool gasping for air.

“I’m not very fond of the term control. He said, “I like being in charge and not letting teams breathe more than control.

The most crucial element to me is where on the field anything occurs, yet it’s true that playing in various ways may become extremely chaotic in wide areas and cause a lot of problems. That is an additional tool at our disposal.

Liverpool’s championship hopes took a serious hit when they suffered their first loss in three games after Klopp’s announcement that he will step down at the end of the season.

For the first time since September, Liverpool was defeated in domestic play, and their defense seemed uncharacteristically weak.

Everything worked against us today. We received a red card. Certain circumstances may have been different. However, it’s over, and I don’t give a damn anymore, Klopp said.

Manchester City will pass Liverpool, who were last crowned champions in 2020, if Pep Guardiola’s team wins its last two games, which begin on Monday against Brentford.

“I didn’t give the number of games left for City a second thought at the final whistle,” Klopp said.

We shall see where it goes if we play to our ability, handle challenges during games, and give it our all on the field.

“Now that City has two games left, I’m not anxious. We anticipate that they will win every game. Really, not much changes. Although we were not excellent enough to win here, we would have wanted to.

“No one gets demoted or rejoices as a champion today. We still have time to shape our own fate.
