<p>Siddharth Anand’s cinematic endeavor, “Fighter,” failed to soar as envisaged. The cinematic offering, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, debuted without the luxury of a holiday release, gracing the screens on January 25. Interestingly, this film saw the light of day precisely a year after Anand unveiled “Pathaan,” with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. Regrettably for the director, “Fighter” couldn’t replicate the enchantment witnessed by “Pathaan” at the box office. The film commenced its cinematic journey with a box office accumulation of Rs 24.60 crores.</p>

<p>In a recent interview, Anand acknowledged that two factors might have influenced the tepid opening of “Fighter.” One factor being its release on a working day, and the second being the potential unfamiliarity of the audience with the exhilaration associated with aviation and jets, resulting in a failure to connect with the film.</p>
<p>“Our expectations as creators have, perhaps, become somewhat unrealistic. I include myself in this sentiment, especially after delivering ‘Pathaan’ just a year ago. It’s imperative to temper our expectations and synchronize them with the final product. Moreover, the release day was a working day. Thursday, deemed mid-week, presented its challenges. For instance, during a special screening for friends and family held on Thursday, approximately 40% of the invitees inquired, ‘Is the screening in the evening?’ This revelation prompted us to consider the practicality of individuals skipping work or school to attend morning shows,” Anand conveyed to Galatta Plus.</p>
<p>“Another consideration is the film’s genre. ‘Fighter’ marks a significant departure for a filmmaker, venturing into uncharted territory. It exists in a space devoid of precedents for the audience. Their bewilderment is evident as they ponder, ‘What purpose do these aircraft serve?’” the director observed before appending, “A considerable segment of our populace, around 90%, may not have experienced air travel or visited an airport, rendering them oblivious to the events unfolding in the movie. This is my analysis. They perceived it as somewhat alien, struggling to grasp the exhilaration expected during aerial sequences. However, once you step into the theater, the simplicity of the narrative becomes apparent.”</p>
<p>“Fighter” is presently gracing theaters. In addition to Hrithik and Deepika, the cast includes Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, and Sanjeeda Shaikh.</p>
