Shikkhar Suri Walked Away from a Director–Growth Role to Solve India’s Biggest Career Gap

Shikkhar Suri Walked Away from a Director–Growth Role to Solve India’s Biggest Career Gap

Most professionals spend years working towards a title like Director – Growth. Shikkhar Suri got there, then quietly walked away.

He had every reason to stay. Over eight years across corporates and startups had taught him how to build businesses from scratch and scale them rapidly. He understood growth, marketing, and business strategy. His career had taken him to work with companies such as Google, American Express, Uber, Zomato, and Blinkit before eventually becoming Director – Growth at a US-based company.

Yet one question kept bothering him.

Why were so many talented Indians still struggling to earn what they were truly worth?

Not because they lacked skill. Engineers, marketers, designers, consultants, freelancers, and professionals across India possessed world-class capabilities. Yet many continued to struggle to land better jobs, attract global clients, or build successful careers.

Shikkhar believes the answer was surprisingly simple.

The problem wasn’t talent.

The problem was positioning.

“Colleges teach people technical skills. Companies teach execution. But very few teach people how to communicate their value, build credibility, or position themselves for global opportunities,” says Shikkhar.

That realization changed the direction of his career.

Rather than continuing to climb the corporate ladder, Shikkhar left the security of a leadership role to focus on a much larger mission: helping Indians build careers and businesses that are no longer limited by geography.

In many ways, this wasn’t the first time he had pursued an unconventional path.

Back in 2012, long before artificial intelligence became mainstream, Shikkhar taught himself computer vision and built a tool that helped visually impaired people recognize numbers. It reinforced a lesson that still shapes his work today: technology creates real impact only when people know how to use it to solve meaningful problems.

Today, through his education platform, Shikkhar helps working professionals, freelancers, entrepreneurs, and agency owners learn how to position themselves globally, secure remote jobs, attract international clients, and leverage AI to compete in an increasingly borderless economy.

His educational content has grown into a community of more than one million followers and has impacted over 50,000 professionals, students, freelancers, and entrepreneurs.

Ask Shikkhar what separates people who succeed from those who remain stuck, and his answer remains unchanged.

“The world isn’t short of talent. It’s short of people who know how to communicate the value of that talent.”

What began as one professional’s decision to walk away from a corporate title has grown into a larger movement—helping Indians think beyond local opportunities and compete on a global stage.
